Congratulations are in order for the DUMBO Neighborhood Association, as the Landmarks Commission has just approved the new DUMBO historic district.  This district includes 91 buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries, bordered by John Street in the north to York Street to the South, Bridge Street to the east and Main Street to the west.

This designation follows recognition earlier this year of Brooklyn’s Industrial Waterfront as one of 2007’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places in America by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.  For information about specific buildings included in this district, and others along Brooklyn’s industrial waterfront, check out this interactive map.
