West Side affordable housing advocates Housing Conservation Coordinators are sponsoring a bus to Albany tomorrow so that tenants from all over the city may speak with their legislators and campaign for stronger affordable housing laws. According to John Raskin of HCC, the bus is leaving from HCC (777 Tenth Avenue) at 7:00 a.m., then stopping at Council Member Gale Brewer’s office (563 Columbus Avenue) at 7:30, and the public is welcome to join at either location.

Participants will attend a tenant rally in Albany at 11:00 a.m., with City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, State Senator Tom Duane, Assembly Member Dick Gottfried, Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal and other supportive elected officials, then meet with legislators in the afternoon. Buses will return by 7:00 p.m. Raskin encourages those interested to check out the Met Council on Housing web site for a more detailed description of the Real Rent Reform campaign and the laws they are hoping to win. If you are interested in joining them on the bus to Albany tomorrow, please contact Lucas at HCC at LShapiro@hcc-nyc.org or 212-716-1664.
